EmpowerHER Scholarship
Purpose
The EmpowerHER Scholarship is designed to support the academic and personal development of young Black women who exhibit outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and a demonstrated commitment to community engagement. This scholarship seeks to empower recipients to achieve their educational goals while fostering a spirit of service and leadership.
Awardees of the EmpowerHER Scholarship exemplify the values of integrity, perseverance, and social responsibility. Through this initiative, we aim to invest in the next generation of women leaders who will continue to inspire and create meaningful change within their communities and beyond.
Eligibility and Application Criteria

To be considered for the EmpowerHER Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Eligibility Requirements:

Identify as a Black woman or girl.

Be a current high school senior

Demonstrate academic commitment with a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

Exhibit leadership qualities through school, community, or extracurricular involvement.

Show a clear commitment to service, empowerment, or advocacy within their community.
Application Materials:
Applicants must submit the following:

A completed application form.

An official or unofficial academic transcript.

One letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or community leader.

A 500–750-word personal essay addressing their leadership journey, community impact, and educational goals.
Selection Process:
Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, community involvement, and the strength of their personal essay.
Award Details
The EmpowerHER Scholarship provides financial support to help recipients pursue their academic and personal goals.
Award Amount:

Two recipients will each receive a $500 scholarship award to assist with educational expenses, including tuition, textbooks, technology, or other academic needs.
Disbursement:

Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient or their educational institution following official award notification.
Recognition:
-
Recipients will be publicly recognized during the Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc., Atlanta Graduate Chapter’s annual community event and may be featured in chapter communications and media.
Renewability:
-
The EmpowerHER Scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable; however, past recipients are encouraged to remain engaged with the chapter’s mentorship and community programs.
The EmpowerHER Scholarship application period will be open from January 15, 2026, through April 8, 2026. All application materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on April 8, 2026 to be considered. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
